REQUIREMENTS FOR TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION MODULES
INVOLVING USE OF THE NUCLEAR GAUGE

All technicians attending the Asphalt, Soils, or Materials Sampler certification will be required to show proficiency with the nuclear gauge regardless of whether or not they are Nuclear Gauge Operators.

Nuclear Gauge Operators - If you are required by the DEQ to record your exposure, you must be safety certified through an approved instructor and you must bring your dosimeter (radiation badge) with you when you attend a training or certification module.

Other Technicians - If you are attending a module that includes use of the nuclear gauge, but you are not a nuclear gauge operator, a dosimeter is not required. For training courses, you will not be asked to operate a gauge. For certifications, the evaluator will operate the gauge per your instruction.
